I recently visited the Sabi Sands, South Africa once again and had some fabulous sightings! Sabi Sands is leopard country, with the highest density of leopards in the world. These are my favorite animals to spend time with and photograph. Take a look...
The Sabi Sands never disappoints! These magnificent cats were abundant and I saw SIX different individuals on this trip! Above is gorgeous Tlalamba resting with the remains of her impala kill. Leopards will often hoist their kills into trees to protect their food from scavengers like hyena and lion.
The key to such great leopard sightings is having skilled trackers and rangers to find these elusive creatures. Our properties hire only the best guides and spotters who are intimately knowledgeable with the animals in the area, giving you the best chance of spotting these cats. We also promise up-close and personal access to sightings on private reserves or concessions, adding to your experience.
It was such a joy to photograph these leopards in their natural habitat. Stay tuned for more of my trip...
