Tawi is a welcoming luxury lodge at the foot of Mt. Kilimajaro in Amboseli National Park. Located about a four-hour drive (240 km or 150 miles) southeast of Nairobi, Amboseli National Park is well known for its herds of big tusked elephants. A scenic park in its own right, Amboseli is synonymous with two particular things – majestic herds of elephant and glorious views of Mount Kilimanjaro in neighboring Tanzania.
Kenya’s second most popular national park after the Masai Mara National Reserve, Amboseli was declared a UNESCO-Mab Biosphere Reserve in 1991. The reserve is an excellent place to view the Big Five, as well as lesser known and rarer wildlife species. Amboseli’s delicate and beautiful ecosystem displays a magnificent variety of wildlife, with more than 50 mammal species. Game drives are designed to take you close to the wildlife rich spots in Amboseli. This gives you an opportunity to view wild animals in their natural habitat as they go about their daily activities.
The picturesque Tawi Lodge lies on a beautiful private concession at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, only ten minutes away from the gate to Amboseli National Park. This eco-friendly lodge offers magnificent views from both its main guest areas and its beautifully appointed cottages. Each cottage boasts romantic four-poster beds, a lovely ensuite bathroom with a Victorian bath and a shower, a fireplace and a personal bar. A butler service is provided for that added personal touch.
Delicious meals are enjoyed in the main guest area, with menus created from the freshest ingredients (locally sourced where possible) and served to a symphony of African sounds. A waterhole, visible from the convivial bar areas, a dining room, sitting rooms and a spa all offer a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a spot of game viewing from the comfort of the lodge. Adventures include twice-daily game drives in 4×4 safari vehicles, nature walks, camel walks and fly camping.
