Doro Nawas rests on the edge of the dry Aba-Huab River overlooking ancient plains with glorious views of the rugged Damaraland area.

The camp provides an excellent base for exploring in game drive vehicles and on foot, as well as excursions to view fascinating geological phenomena, petroglyphs – prehistoric rock engravings – and San rock art at Twyfelfontein, Namibia’s first World Heritage Site.

The design and décor of the 16 natural-walled units (including a family unit) blend in with the surrounding scenery. Each unit comprises a bedroom, bathroom, outdoor shower, and veranda for stargazing or sleep-outs under the stars. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas, a pool area and a small curio shop.

Doro Nawas Camp is a joint venture between Wilderness Safaris, the Doro !Nawas community and a Namibian empowerment company; this safari experience therefore results in economic empowerment for the local community.

Desert-adapted elephant herds are a highlight, as are the spectacular panoramic views.

Client Testimonials

"We enjoyed this fourth trip to Africa more than any we have made. Singita was beyond anything we have seen before. The service and the setting were incomparable. At Singita we would sit on the balcony and we saw elephants, baboons, impala, the big monitor lizards and in the morning we left two leopards walked across the river. We are so appreciative for all you have done for us and for the wonderful job you always do."
James B. Holloway, Jr. M.D.
"Our honeymoon was definitely the trip of a lifetime and one we will never forget. Thanks so much for making it perfect."
Cindy Chupack, Producer Sex and the City
"I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know what a fantastic time we had on our trip to Africa. Thank you so very much for making the arrangements for us, for a unforgettable vacation filled with many, any precious memories."
Sue Clarke, Delta Airlines
"Awesome! Awesome!! Awesome!!!"
Peggy Clinkscales, Atlanta GA
"Thank you for a superb job of planning and organizing as everything went smoothly. The country of South Africa so captivated me that my husband and I are already planning a return trip next summer. The only thing to rival the bush and animals was the food. The experience of South Africa is like no other and its effect is difficult to express. I can only encourage others to make the venture."
Laurel J. Snelling, Physician Assistant Associates PLLC.
